Break The Wave Cycle Of Anxiety! Eliminate Your Panic Attacks Now
A heart attack at age at age 22? As I was taken to the hospital emergency room in an ambulance after I started breathing rapidly and had a racing heart with tingle sensations and other unusual body sensations, I really thought that might be the case. Even though I was at the peak and prime of my life.
The purpose of this article will be to discuss possible symptoms of a typical panic attack like the one described above, both physical and psychological, from an actual sufferer's point of view. So that you might possibly be able to more easily identify if you suffer from the same disorder or perhaps can address the wave cycle of anxiety that may be the cause of your problems.Or perhaps something called the "loop of anxiety". I wish that information like this would have been as readily shared and available then - as it is today with the accessibility of the internet.
We will also discuss what potential courses of treatment exist and a potential solution as well. We are not rendering medical or psychological advice of any type. That should always be sought from professionals. The question is- where do people like us turn when confronted with these unusual body sensations possibly leading to panic?
Chances are if you are reading this article that you have experienced some of the following physical symptoms listed below to some degree:
- Breathing erratic - tightness in throat and chest
- Racing heart with tingle sensations
- Dizziness and sweating
And perhaps some of these psychological factors as well:
- Claustrophobic or agoraphobic feelings in closed locations like airlines
- Fear of having a heart attack or other catastrophic health event
- Overwhelming fear that the anxiety you have may push you over the edge
My own personal experience with a typical panic attack was very frightening. Starting with the racing heart and dizzy spells it led to a full blown feeling of complete loss of control. Always healthy up to that point in my life, these episodes "rocked my world" as they say. They made me question whether there was something seriously physically or psychologically wrong with me. One thing for sure - it was seriously damaging to my self confidence. So I began the long frustrating pursuit of options for a cure that might just help me to break the wave cycle of anxiety. My initial options at that time were basically the same as they are today.
First was to consult a physician and have a complete physical to determine if indeed the racing heart and tingly sensations meant that something was wrong with my heart brain or other organs. I did that and was given the proverbial "clean bill of health " - and a prescription for anti-anxiety medication. Valium I believe at the time. That time, money and aggravation spent did not stop a typical panic attack again soon thereafter.
Second was to consult a psychologist. Those familiar with what I experienced I'm sure are recognizing a familiar pattern of trying to get help. My visit for a mental check up ended up in the same way. Being given a prescription for medication and told to "relax more". Neither of those health professionals was able to determine the root cause of my attack but the psychologist felt that anti-anxiety meds could help me get over the feelings I got with those unusual body sensations.
In hindsight, and after doing a lot of research over the years as more information became available, especially over the internet, I determined that what caused a typical panic attack for me was something called "anxiety sensitivity". In layman's terms it means is that my unique body/mind chemistry made me susceptible to a "fight or flight" response. In short, a giant adrenalin rush.
Those unusual bodily sensations like my heart racing with tingly sensations, breathing erratic, tightness in throat were processed by my brain as something actually being wrong with me physically. It turns out that this condition of a "anxiety sensitivity" is not always best treated by medication either. What seems to drive more panic episodes is the mental imprint of your first attack. Also known as a "loop of anxiety'.
There have been significant advancements in technology and research and ready availability of information over the internet since I first experienced a typical panic attack years ago. There are now safe, available and natural options for treatment of panic attacks and general anxiety disorder.
