Sunny Beach is on the Black Sea Coast in Bulgaria and has grown massively in popularity as a sunshine resort over the last few years.
As the resort is still in its infancy as a major Summer holiday destination a lot of people wonder when exactly the season runs and when is best to go.
The simple answer is that this is a Summer resort. It is not hot all year round and therefore visiting before April or after October could mean a bit of disappointment as far as the weather goes.
On top of this it is highly important to know that Sunny Beach is almost entirely a tourist resort with very few full time residents meaning that out of season Sunny Beach and much of the Black Sea Coasts are pretty much ghost towns with most bars and restaurants shut and very few shops and people around. So, note that the season to visit is from the end of May running through until the end of September/beginning of October.
During these months weather is normally nice and things are up and running but it isn't really until mid-June that everything is running up to speed. So, if you like your holidays quiet then the resort is noticeably calmer through May and the beginning of June. By mid-June it turns into a very lively place indeed, especially on the Sunny Beach main strip which never sleeps.
The same can be said about the end of the season. From mid-September the resort is a lot quieter - There are fewer tourists and some shops and bars close for the Winter. So, again, for a quieter holiday visiting in September can be a preferable time for a holiday in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria.
If you are someone who simply thinks that the best time to visit anywhere is when it's hottest and best for the beaches then the month you should be visiting Sunny Beach in Bulgaria is most certainly August. This is when rainfall is lowest (normally 0 days of rain), temperatures are highest (in the 30's Celsius) and the sea is warm like bath water.
August is also the peak of season meaning that although you may pay more for your holiday to Sunny Beach at this time of year you will also find the most amount of bars, restaurants, clubs and activity promoters competing for your business meaning bargains can be had.
