There is no better time for dog owners to turn their business to American Made products for their pets, who tend to take every consideration into safety, quality, function and many fashion.

Many families with pets want accessories for them that are pretty, having dogs or cats shouldn't condemn the families or pets to accepting farm like leather or webbed collars that are hard, smelly and hazardous! Whats good for a goat or a horse on a farm isn't acceptable in your home. We domesticated dogs and cats and should be prepared to offer them safe, comfortable, functional collars and leashes that fit aesthetically in our domestic homes, a satin lined collar offers the ultimate in comfort and least likely to cause skin irritation for your dog.

On the issue of function, does your dog back out of their collar? Or does your dog pull excessively? Get them a Martingale or Sight hound style collar(same mechanism many names for it) it remedies both of these behavior issues. Made of two loops the larger that goes onto the dogs head, and should be adjustable, as the collar and the smaller that cinches when the dog pulls or tried to back out of their collar. Simply serving as a remedy to both of these on leash behavior problems. These behavior problems are more prevalent in certain breeds of dogs.

Backing out of collars is common for breeds like: Pugs, Boston Terriers, Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, American Bulldogs, Mastiffs, Sharpeis, Bloodhounds, Pit Bulls, Amstaffs or any of the bull breeds or breeds with excessive skin around their necks because the size of their large or wrinkly neck often exceeds the size of their head. Conversely Greyhounds, Whippets, Italian Greyhounds, Borzoi, Salukis, Deerhounds, Wolfhounds and any of the sight hound family again the size of the normal neck will still exceed the size of the head as they have a smaller needle shaped head.

Another group of dogs that benefit from a Martingale Collar are ones with a husky like coat Huskies, Shelties, Collies, Border Collies, Shiba Inu, Basenji, ect. they have so much fur around a rather small neck with a normal sized head that the coat allows for them to back out of normal dog collars.

Giant Breeds Great Danes, Pyrenese, St. Bernards, Newfoundlands, again any of the Mastiff Family benefit because of their sheer strength a cinching Martingale or Sighthound collar could be the difference of a pleasant walk or the walker being dragged down the street!

Another type of dog that benefits from a martingale are those that are excssive pullers when being walked Labradors, Pit Bulls, American Staffordshire Terriers, Jack Russels, Miniature Pinschers, German Shepherds, Samoyeds the breed descriptive list for these is endless because some breeds are predisposed to be pullers and some individual dogs have a high prey, dominance or curiosity drive thus constantly pulling and challenging the walker. The Martingale Collar best remedies this behavior when placed high on the neck up under the dogs chin lifting their head breaking the dogs ability to drive or pull. When the head of the dog is lifted much like in horses it is impossible for the dog to get momentum or strength to pull or speed. Martingale or Sight Hound Collars should only be used with a standard at the most 4 foot leash or lead thus limiting the dogs momentum and sending a constantmessage of consistency to the dog. Never use a Flexi or retractable lead with a Martingale or Sighthound Collar this will only turn your dog into a confused yo yo.

If none of these behavioral problems apply to your pet a simple standard side release collar is in order this will provide a means of identification couple with and Identification tag and a source of control when being walked on leash. Some dogs like people are just easier going and a regular collar is enough. The preferred type of standard collar is one with a Heavy duty contoured plastic side release closure with a reliable adjuster slide. Thus providing a custom fit.

When placing a collar around your dogs neck think ...would I want to wear this? Is it comfortable? Am I hurting them or causing them undo pain?

As far as the fashion meets function side there are countless possibilities for coordinating collars and Leashes that are attractive and either compliment your dogs coloring monochromatically or contrast it.

Some people even enjoy coordinating their dogs collar and leash set to their personal style or decor of their home.
