It has been noticed that Zerg players are increasingly opting for early expansion in the game, putting Terran players in a difficult situation as the game progresses. While playing against a Zerg player who appears to be going for early expansion, the following Starcraft 2 strategy may be employed to stop the expansion and get that 'gg' from your enemy in a matter of minutes.
Begin with a Supply Depot at 9 and follow it up by building a Barracks at 12. While the Barracks is being constructed, send out a scout SCV to probe the opponent's expansion. Once you establish that the opponent is headed for fast expansion, bring your SCV out of sight momentarily. Construct a Refinery at 14 supply. It is very important to keep your ramp sealed to prevent a Zerg counter-offensive. This Starcraft 2 strategy will not work if your ramp is not sealed. When the Barracks is operational, train some Marines and set them to rally at the opponent's expo. Opt for a Factory instead of a second Barracks. The Factory may be used to further seal your ramp. As the first Marine draws closer to the opponent's expo move your SCV next to their Hatchery and construct a Bunker, ensuring that it is within firing range of the Hatchery.
At this stage in the game, it is not likely that your opponent will possess many Zerglings and may therefore be expected to send out a Drone to counter your Bunker. Use the Marines you've deployed to beat them back and also to push back any Spine Crawlers he may send against you. Once the Bunker is ready have your Marines attack the Hatchery from inside it. Meanwhile, have your SCV construct another Bunker. Keep a couple of Hellions ready at Base to send out against any Zerglings the opponent attacks with.
Once the Hatchery is destroyed you will possess a significant advantage over your opponent. Upgrade swiftly to a Banshee in order to finish the game swiftly and with minimal losses. Construct a Starport and an additional Refinery. Apart from the Queen, the enemy will not have any anti-aircraft units, and you can use the Banshees to effectively harass yoour opponent until he "gg's" out.
This is just one of many expert Starcraft 2 Strategies that one can use. You can find even more powerful techniques to defeat your opponents and move up into the Platinum league at my blog on Starcraft 2 Strategy guides.
