Catskills is a town situated in south east part of Greene County, New York with zip code 12414. The population of Catskills region as per year 2000 census was 11,849. Being situated at a distance of nearly a two hour drive from New York City, Catskills area has frequent visitors and tourists, especially during holidays and weekends. Catskills region comprises of four counties, i.e. Greene, Delaware, Sullivan and Ulster. Delaware County is situated at the maximum distance from New York. The western part of the Catskills region is full of mountain ranges spread across its length and breadth.

These mountains add to the beauty and charm of the Catskills region and are a special center of attraction for the visitors, mountaineers and other people, who have a flair for thrill and adventure in tourism. The dense forests and small lakes invite the visitors to explore the hidden charm and magic in the beautiful landscapes of Catskills west. The area comprises of Beverly Hills where a number of camps are organized for children during there summer vacations. The mountains along the region gradually decline in height and gets merged into Allegheny plateau.

The region is full of small as well as large mountains hence the saying goes for the region as-"When you have two rocks for each dirt, you are in the Catskills west." The Catskills region contains more than thirty peaks which are above 3500 feet high and also parts of 6 important rivers. The highest mountain, Slide Mountain situated in Ulster County has a height of approximately 4180 feet. The city of Beverly Hills summer camps, situated in Catskills west are a theatre arts camp for children below 14 years of age. Here the students are taught many finer points and basics of theatrical arts and various aspects of performing.

At some other camps, children are encouraged to join the group learning the adventurous activities like self defense techniques, rock climbing, water sports, etc. The Devil's path is the one mountain range situated in the Greene County of the Catskills region. The mountains usually understood to be a part of the Devil's path are, leading from west to east- West kill, hunter, plateau, sugar loaf, twin and Indian head. This term was coined by the earliest inhabitants of the region who believed that the range's difficult cliffs were especially constructed by the Devil himself so that only he could go over the peaks and get himself disappeared from the scene at his own will. The land surrounding the mountains together with the mountains were acquired by the state as forest preserve and were made a part of the Catskills Park in the later half of the second decade and early part of the third decade during the 20th century.
