The standard size of an ACEO should be 2.5 x 3.5 inches. This standard art card size is the same size as a baseball card. Collectors recognize this size. Any other sized format would not be acceptable. The other rule to follow is:
All artists card work must adhere to basic Copyright Law. All photos and artwork are copyright protected even 50 YEARS AFTER death of the copyright holder. If you are the owner of the photograph, you must also possess a basic model release for which any and all models involved in the photo have given permission to use their image and in some cases only specific usage is allowed. Don't even think about using anything with corporate logos or Brand Names on an ACEO. All are copyright protected.
That's it! Two simple rules to follow when producing or publishing ACEO. Artists everywhere are having fun producing, selling and collecting art cards.
Supplies to make ACEO are easy to find on the internet as retailers are recognizing the need to have quality supplies for this small art form. If you want to try your own hand at collecting art cards or making Pocket Art, you should know that it's highly addictive.There is freedom to experiment with different media and art genres.
Art cards and ACEO are being looked at as a serious form of Fine Art and many galleries have showcased assembled collections as well as art card collections compiled by individual artists. eBay is a great place to start for viewing and collecting ACEO. There are numerous artist card and ACEO forums there and all are welcome to join.
Take a serious look at the ACEO movement. It will be worth the time invested and is a fun hobby.
